Christina, shined her light upon us the second she stepped foot in the studio. Full of life , joy and curiosity. Christina, new to yoga, found a place on her mat where she could feel safe and open her heart to explore deeper within. Christina, thank you for entrusting us to guide your practice.
We are honored to name Christina this month’s Yogi Inspiration! In celebration of her courage and dedication, we hope she inspires other yogis to let go and BE! “Remember, it doesn’t matter how deep into a posture you go – what does matter is who you are when you get there.” ~ Max Strom

YIY: What inspired you to start Yoga?
Christina: I had reached a point in my life where I needed to try something different and needed to find a way to release life stresses. I started yoga not knowing too much about the spiritual aspect of it. Since I was already on my own spiritual quest, it became a beautiful addition to my own life’s journey. It changed my life.
YIY: What motivates you to continue practicing?
Christina: My first class ever was at Your Inner Yogi. The women who instruct the classes welcomed me and gave me light at a real low time in my life. Without even knowing it, these women delivered an alternative path to healing. That’s what motivates me to continue practicing.
YIY: What is your favorite type(class style) of Yoga and why?
Christina: Vinyasa. It is challenging and builds up a good amount of heat. I also notice the difference when I am consistent in my practice and when I am not while practicing.
YIY: What benefits, if any, have you experienced from your practice?
Christina: Balance. I enjoy feeling lighter and more peaceful after class. I also enjoy the beginning of classes where instructors deliver motivational quotes or words. Flexibility. I notice more flexibility in my body and enjoy my body more than I ever have before.
YIY: Considering what you may have learned on your mat in your yoga classes, have you been able to live yoga off your mat?
Christina: Yes! Absolutely. I smile more.
YIY: Affirmations and quotes can play a significant role in one’s yoga practice. What is your favorite, quote or mantra?
Christina: Move with the flow. Don’t fight the current. Resist nothing. Let life carry you. Don’t try to carry it. -Oprah Winfrey
YIY: How many times a week do you practice?
Christina: I practice 3-4 times a week. In the beginning I took classes twice a day at times but I have a busier schedule right now.
YIY: If you could describe your yoga journey in three words, what three words would you use?
Christina: Brave. Vulnerability. Healing.
