The Best Project You’ll Ever Work On Is You
Christina practiced at Your Inner Yogi when we were operating out of the Circuitous Succession art gallery. When we had the honor of opening the new studio, she didn’t hesitant to sign up for our regular scheduled classes and invest her time and effort to… Guess Who? Herself. Christina’s LOYALTY and COMMITMENT to her practice and healthier lifestyle made her stand out with a vengeance this month.
We are honored to name Christina this month’s Yogi Inspiration! In celebration of her setting her health and wellness as a top priority, we hope she inspires other yogis to follow her lead! “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” -Aristotle

YIY: What inspired you to start Yoga?
Christina: I had been doing yoga sporadically prior to YIY opening, but I knew I needed some sort of routine to help me be more centered and build strength. When YIY opened a block away from my house and had a 5:45am class twice a week, I knew it was time and I had found the place.
YIY: What motivates you to continue practicing?
Christina: First and foremost, it is the best start to my day and leaves me centered, and on top of that it’s helpful as I continue to train for the St. Jude half marathon.
YIY: What is your favorite type(class style) of Yoga and why?
Christina: Vinyasa. I like the rhythm of the movement and the challenge.
YIY: What benefits, if any, have you experienced from your practice?
Christina: I have a better ability to focus at work, increased upper body strength and find myself with less muscle tightness after other types of workouts.
YIY: We are honored you’ve entrusted in us to lead your practice. Why have you made YIY the home for your yoga practice?
Christina: The location is great for me, and from the very first class when I felt like I didn’t know what I was doing, every instructor has been kind, welcoming, and fun. Also, despite visiting other studios here and there in the past, I had never done any sort of inversion, and YIY showed me that not only I was capable, but that I also loved it.
YIY: Affirmations and quotes can play a significant role in one’s yoga practice. What is your favorite, quote or mantra?
Christina: “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” T.S. Eliot, American-British writer
YIY: If you could describe your yoga journey in three words, what three words would you use and Why?
Christina: Strength . Balance . Commitment
Strength. Both mentally and physically
Balance. Not just on the mat, but with work, friends, and family and allowing myself the flexibility to focus on me when needed.
Commitment. To goals, others, and myself.
